What’s your thoughts on this? I’ve actually been considering using the crowd sourcing model (Kickstarter) to fund a new EP of kick assery, interested to know everyones take.
Well on the music side of fan funding I think it’s hands down greedy and even selfish. Assuming that you’re not homeless or living in some sort of poverty then you ARE well able to self-fund an EP on your own(forgive me if you’re posting from a shelter or a hostel). Yeah it’ll take time/effort and no you don’t need a professional studio or a fancy producer(or one at all). If you do need those tools then chances are your music probably isn’t that great. Fan funding to me just seems like a quick route to some sort of false success for artists who are too lazy to make things happen themselves. DIY just seems logical if you really care about the music and are actually passion-driven.
